Diabetic Dessert Recipes - Sugar Free Dessert Recipes to Prevent Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, either the pancreas does not make enough insulin (insulin is a hormone that helps glucose to enter cells) or muscle cells are unable to use insulin properly. As the result, a diabetic patient has very high blood sugar levels. When the sugar or glucose level is over 600 mg/dl, it's dangerous to the diabetic's health. Untreated diabetes affects the eyes, nerves, kidney, heart and blood vessels.

In such a case, you absolutely need to manage a healthy diet in order to help control blood sugar concentration. And what about if you are free from diabetes? 3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

The 3 Day Cardiac Diet supposedly comes from the Birmingham Hospital in Alabama, hence it is also known as the Birmingham Hospital Diet. According to reports, this diet plan was designed for the use of patients who needed to lose up to 10 lbs weight quickly so they could undergo surgery.

The true origins of this diet are not clear and the Birmingham Hospital does not claim responsibility for it. Moreover, the diet now appears to have become the stuff of internet legend as there are versions of it widely known under a variety of names, including the Tuna Fish Diet, Baptist Hospital 3 day Diet, 3 day Navy Diet, 3 day Army Diet, Birmingham Cardiac Diet, Florida 3 Day Diet, American Heart Association Diet, Alabama 3 Day Diet, Hospital 3 Day Diet, and more.

Diet

However, there is a strong correspondence between the menu plans of these different versions so, for all intents and purposes, they can be treated as the same diet and comments applicable to one are substantially applicable to them all.

3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

In summary, the 3 Day Cardiac Diet comprises menu plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner covering a period of three days. The daily calorie intake is about 1,000 calories, so much of the weight loss benefit is likely obtained by the restricted calorie intake, although some claim is made that the benefit is due to chemical reaction. Eating a low level of carbohydrates will also mean that water is lost from the body.

For the plan to produce results, it's important to keep hydration levels up by drinking plenty of water: 6-8 cups is recommended. This also aids digestion.

An important source of protein for the 3 day Cardiac diet is tuna. 1/2 cup of tuna is consumed on the first two days, increasing to 1 cup on the third day. Variety and nutrition is provided with small portions of vegetables, grapefruit, banana, cheese, eggs, crackers and toast. Coffee or tea is permitted with meals. (For a detailed menu, do a quick search for my article, "3 Day Tuna Fish Diet- Menu and Diet Plan".)

Some concerns about this diet stem from the restricted levels of calories and nutrition. As the calories provided in this diet are so low, it's is likely that followers will feel hunger pangs and lower energy levels, especially by the third day. Vitamins and minerals are also low so that probably a multi vitamin supplement should be recommended as an additional source.

With only three small meals a day, your body may start to recognize that only a limited food supply is available and begin to compensate by reducing metabolism and energy levels to conserve fat reserves. This actually makes it harder to lose weight and, along with the feelings of hunger, places the body under additional stress.

The 3 Day Cardiac diet does not claim to be suitable for long term use and after 3 days you should follow a program that offers more variety in the content to provide the proteins, fats, carbohydrates and other nutrients that your body needs. More variety would also make it easier to follow this plan, as well as more enjoyable.

It is possible to follow a quick weight reduction plan that offers a more balanced and healthier range of foods. In particular, one which includes a technique known as calorie shifting and takes into account your own food preferences would be a good choice.

Following the 3 Day Cardiac Diet provides restricted calories and nutrients for its intended duration and the weight loss benefits come with some risk to health as well as bodily stress. Also, the diet is not a long term solution and any weight loss reduction could well be offset by food binging that results when your eating program returns to normal. A better approach would be to follow a dieting plan that is more likely to bring true fat loss and provide a continuing, long term loss of weight, along with a slimmer, trimmer, more attractive body shape.

Flour is highly processed (especially white flour) and contains a lot of carbohydrates but very little, if any substantial nutritional value.  Protein is needed by the body, but carbohydrates are not.  Carbohydrates are like "pure energy", and (with the possible exception of professional athletes), very few of us come anywhere even close to burning up the carbohydrates we load into our body on a daily basis.  It is all this extra carbohydrates that result in weight gain.

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

Flour is packed with carbohydrates (and so is sugar).  If you can eliminate these from your diet, the health benefits are incredible.

How to Make Sugar Free Cake Mix Taste Better

Sugar free cake mix is a must-have in your pantry if you or someone else in your family needs diabetic desserts or just wants to cut down on your carbs or sugar in general. However, the last think you want is for your sugar free cake mix to turn out tasting like a diet dessert. Here are some tips that can help your sugar free desserts and cakes taste more like the real thing.

Using applesauce as a partial substitute for oil when you're making a sugar free cake mix can help cut down on both the sugar and the fat in the recipe, making it better for both diabetics and dieters. Applesauce improves the texture but don't overdo it-substitute about half of the oil with applesauce and you'll get a good result.

\"sugar Free\"

Another way to improve sugar free cake mix is to use a tasty dessert mix with no sugar added to create layers in the cake. A plain sugar-free cake can taste too, well, plain, but if you put a creamy and flavorful dessert mix in between like Lemon Dessert Mix it will add flavor interest. In addition, you can make sugar free icing out of a dessert mix like this by mixing preparing it according to the package directions and then mixing it with cool whip. You can also add the dessert mix right into the mix (also add one more egg than the cake mix package requires) in order to make a rich and moist pudding cake.

How to Make Sugar Free Cake Mix Taste Better

Another good fix for sugar free cake mix is to add canned fruit to the mix, like crushed pineapple or peaches. Pick fruit that's package in water, not in syrup, or you'll get more added sugar (and calories) than you bargained for, but the fruit can add a little bit of natural sweetness and moistness to what could otherwise be a bland, dry cake.

Finally, you can use fruit juice in place of water or milk with sugar free cake mix. Thawing orange concentrate is a good way to add orange flavor, which goes well with both vanilla and chocolate cakes, or apple juice can be used with angel food cake mix to add a delicate apple flavor. These are just some of the many ways you can improve sugar free cake mix so it doesn't taste like you're being deprived.

Low Carb Diet Side Effects

Many people curious about starting a low carb diet wonder if there are side effects they need to be aware of before getting started. Many also wonder if there are harmful low carb diet side effects too, so let's look at the most common side effects of low carb dieting, and talk about whether any of these are harmful.

Some of these low carb diet side effects can be problematic for people with health conditions, particularly if they're taking medications for those conditions. Often the side effects are good, but you need to be aware they can happen and talk to your medical care provider because they'll need to monitor your progress and possibly change, reduce, or eliminate medications as you progress.

Diet

For instance, a very common low carb diet side effect is lowered, or more even blood sugar levels. This is an important low carb diet side effect for any diabetic, particularly ones that take insulin shots or medication. Since low carb diets can drastically reduce your blood sugar levels naturally, your doctor may need to adjust your medication levels to compensate for those changes.

Low Carb Diet Side Effects

Another low carb diet side effect is of course losing a lot of weight. This by itself is not technically a side effect, but related effects of losing weight can include regulation of blood pressure, easing or disappearance of digestive tract problems, and resolution of breathing problems too.

If you're taking high blood pressure medication, then the side effect of having that lowered from eating a low carb diet will need to be addressed by your doctor or medical care specialist. The same applies for digestive troubles, if you experience resolution to those problems as a low carb dieting side effect, your doctor will need to adjust or eliminate the medications you take.

Now if you don't take medications for conditions such as those listed above, you may still experience low carb diet side effects, but they're likely to be ones you're happy to have.

Common, "good" low carb diet side effects include reduced cravings for sugars and starches; increased energy; reduced bloated and gassy, upset stomach feelings; improved bowel movements; regulated blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels; loss of excess water retention; and of course, loss of excess body fat.

There are some low carb diet side effects that are not harmful, but you need to be aware of them because they are uncomfortable at best. These low carb diet side effects are more common during the first one to five days on the diet, and are side effects of your body adjusting to your eating changes. These side effects can include headaches; nausea; dizziness; lethargy or low energy; severe sugar cravings; irritability; and constipation.

There are also a couple of women specific low carb diet side effects. In the first week or two of your new low carb diet, you may experience oddities with your monthly menstrual flow. Usually this side effect lasts a short time though, and is caused by your body adjusting to the new eating lifestyle you've chosen. A great low carb diet side effect comes later: Women's menstrual flow is usually reduced, and there is generally much less pain or other problems involved while you're on a low carb diet.

Many of those early low carb diet side effects can be reduced by drinking extra water and getting plenty of rest, plus making sure you don't go hungry. In rare cases these initial low carb diet side effects can last as long as ten days, but usually they're present from approximately the third to the fifth day of your low carb diet.

Why Low-No Fat Foods and Sugar Free Foods Are Bad For You and Will Make You PUT ON WEIGHT Instead

Let me share with you some of my own experiences. I was in college and should I say I was exceptionally active.

I would run for about 10km at least every single day and also go to the gym 3 times a week for weight training.

\"sugar Free\"

However I could never get my 6 packs to show. My total body fat was still above 10%. Mind you I did not expect and instant results.

Why Low-No Fat Foods and Sugar Free Foods Are Bad For You and Will Make You PUT ON WEIGHT Instead

I've been training for at least 6 month in a very dedicated manner. So what was the problem?

I was eating low fat foods, sugar free stuff and the likes. I should be getting my results right? Wrong! Why?

It was not until later did I realize what I was doing wrong. There was nothing wrong with my workout regime other than it was probably crazy but not detrimental to one's health. Workout aside, it was the food intake that was keeping me from reaching my goals.

Fat Free/Low Fat Foods

Why are they bad for you? First of all it's important to note that most foods that are fat free or have no fat are always supplemented with more sugar. Why? Well basically because lots of foods just don't taste good without the fat. Not only does it not taste good other wise but your body just won't be satisfied with the food.

What happens to sugar? Sugar if not used as energy will then be stored in your body as fat. The very thing you wanted to avoid in the first place. There you are trying to avoid fat at all cost, eating this supposedly low fat and no fat food and there your body stores all that extra sugar as fat.

Sugar naturally makes your body more satisfied as it's a form of carbohydrates, the simple kind. Carbohydrates make your body release endorphins, a feel good hormone that makes you feel satisfied so you don't crave for more food. However its just temporary if you are eating mainly simple carbs like sugar.

Sugar Free Foods

Have you ever noticed that almost all those people eating sugar free food are actually overweight? Well you may argue that that is the reason why they are eating sugar free food in the first place. The thing is studies have shown that sugar free food actually makes you gain weight contrary to what the diet food companies are telling you.

Why is that? Here is the science behind it. Aspartame, saccharin and sucralose are one of the most common artificial sweeteners out there. As mentioned before, sugar makes you feel more satisfied due to the endorphin hormone that it will help produce. However, this is not so with sugar free foods and in turn people tend to eat up to 50% more of the food as they aren't satisfied.

Not only are they not satisfying to the body but can also bring serious side-effects such as brain tumors, lesions, seizures, headaches, dizziness, mood disorders, disorientation and confusion, depression and anxiety, diarrhea, fatigue and even heart-attacks. Would you sacrifice your health like this for something that doesn't even work?

So where does that leave us?

Stick to natural foods, the less unprocessed or engineered, the better. If you have a sweet tooth, try the natural sweeteners such as honey and maple syrup. You'll realize that there are much more easier ways to lose fat and also in a much more satisfying way. Stop all those diet foods you're eating right now and follow a proper diet program. You'll be surprised how easy it is to follow a diet especially since it does not starve you.

I have provided a link to a free eBook that will teach you how to eat to effectively burn fat.

It will teach you how to eat real food and not those diet foods that only make you fatter and more unhealthy.

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

Ever hear of the apple diet? It's a popular weight loss diet that has numerous versions and spin-offs. A lot of these versions are healthy and work for weight loss, however 1 version you must absolutely avoid.

First, why the apple diet works...

Diet

A big reason on why the apple diet works has to do with the high water content and high amount of fiber in each apple. The high water content allows you to "eat water" basically. The foods you mostly "eat water" with are generally low in calories, but very filling. For example, a 300-calorie candy bar won't fill you up, but 300-calories worth of apples will.

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

Another reason why the apple diet works is because each apple has 5 grams of fiber in it. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber. Having a high fiber intake is a big part of successful long term weight loss programs.

The average American only gets about 12 grams of fiber each day. It's recommended that you get 25 grams of fiber each day. I, however, advocate getting 35-50 grams of fiber each day for easy long term weight loss.

There are 2 rules to the apple diet...

Rule #1: Eat 1 apple before each meal

This is the main rule. Very simple, huh?

Just eat 1 apple before each of 3 meals. Nothing more. I won't even tell you to stop eating your favorite foods. Obviously, if you eat a little bit more healthy, you'll increase the speed in which you lose weight... but I won't force you to eat healthier.

Rule #2: Don't forget rule #1

Seriously, there is just 1 rule to the apple diet. However I want to add that I've found that my clients who have tried the apple diet get better results simply by following rule #1 and eating healthy snacks.

That's all you need to change in your diet... eat an apple before each of 3 meals... and eat healthy snacks. You can continue to eat more unhealthy type of foods for your meals. Just don't eat unhealthy snacks!

So, if you want an easy weight loss plan that isn't complicated and doesn't require much thinking on your part, try the apple diet.

Type 2 Diabetes and Diet Soda - Aspartame

Many of those with type 2 diabetes will try to avoid their intake of sugar. If you are a heavy soda drinker then be warned that diet soda can be extremely harmful to your health. Diet sodas contain a sweetener called Nutra Sweet. It is also called aspartame. The Cancer Research Center of European Foundation of Oncology in Bologna, Italy did a study and found that aspartame can cause cancer. These researchers found that leukemia and lymphomas in laboratory tests on female rats increased dramatically. Aspartame and Nutra Sweet is found in most of the sweeteners that are used as an alternative to sugar. It can be very dangerous to your health.

This can be a major concern for people with type 2 diabetes who are trying to limit their intake of sugar and are use alternative sweetener products. Some studies have found that the pancreas in the body of a diabetic is aging more rapidly than the population in general. Beta cells are dying in the pancreas. The death of these cells is just the start, cancer can develop in the stomach afterwards. In another study done on the rats with aspartame it found that only one soda had harmful effects to the cells. Yet another study found that aspartame can cause cellular DNA damage. The damage that caused this was very similar to those associated by cancer.

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

Pancreas beta cells are very important to a diabetic. If they are damaged this will lead to even further insulin problems causing you to lose feeling and even have numbness in the fingers and toes. Try to avoid artificial sweeteners that contain aspartame. Use natural sweeteners instead. Remember sugar is what gives the body its energy. It is natural conversion process for the body to be energized. Do not fill the body with unnatural substances and you can avoid any further complications.

Type 2 Diabetes and Diet Soda - Aspartame

Additionally, some people claim that drinking soda pop can develop into addictions, in which those with diabetes could be subject to health problems because the pop is rich in caffeine. According to other studies, if people with diabetes drank one can of soda daily, in one year they could gain 15 pounds. Health risks were discussed for type 2 diabetics that surround diet pop issues.

Diet pop contains caffeine, aspartame, carbonation, low calorie sweeteners, sucralose, and other ingredients. Carbonation is salt, ester, or carbonic acids. Having too much of carbonation is bad for your health.

Type 2 Diabetes and Diet Soda - Aspartame

If you think you may have diabetes check for type 2 diabetes symptoms and talk to your doctor. If you find the problem early enough you may be able to reverse type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes Drink - Sugar Free Drink Solutions

Don't you just hate it when you ask for a sugar free drink in a pub or restaurant and all they've got to offer is diet cola or water?

Or you're offered a pure fruit juice - "Well, that's sugar free - isn't it?" No it isn't - the naturally occurring sugar is rather high, but here are a few drinks you might like to try...

\"sugar Free\"

I got so fed up of the standard cola offer, I decided to experiment and you might like to try these alternatives to 'just cola'.

Diabetes Drink - Sugar Free Drink Solutions

1) Diet cola and diet tonic water in the same glass. It gives a slightly sharper taste and makes a very long, refreshing drink on a hot day.

2) Split a pure fruit Juice (e.g. orange) with a friend and add sparkling water to your half. Or try mixing it with diet tonic water.

If you want to make a refreshing drink at home, try this pineapple slushy:

Take 1 can sugar-free ginger ale, add 1/4 cup of unsweetened pineapple juice and ice cubes. Place in a blender and blend until the ice-cubes are crushed and you get a slushy mixture.

Why not experiment with other unsweetened fruit juices? And if you want a little bit of kick, you could add rum extract to give more flavor.

If you have any ideas for sugar-free drink recipes I'd love to hear about them.

Lemon Detox Diet Recipe - Make it Today

The lemon detox diet recipe is by far the most requested of any of the detox type recipes available online. This is due to the high media coverage the detox diet drink has received on American and British television. I must say though that it does worry me that many who take up this diet do so without consulting their doctor or without any preparation. Before I give you the recipe I'm going to take a little of your time to make sure that your detox experience is as rewarding and safe as possible.

Firstly as I have already said before starting any detox diet plan consult your doctor. We are all unique and just because a detox diet works safely for one person does not mean it is ideal for everybody.

Diet

Secondly don’t simply switch from you normal high junk food, high processed food, high caffeine intake and alcohol diet straight to a harsh detox diet. If you do the chances are high that you will fail. Make sure at least a few days before you start a detox plan that to start cutting down on the foodstuffs you know you are going to grave.

Lemon Detox Diet Recipe - Make it Today

Many who do detox do feel ill for at least a couple of days. Symptoms can include feeling lightheaded, nausea and feeling week. These symptoms are common and usually last a few days. If you continue to feel ill consult your doctor. If you can't cope with the symptoms then stop the detox plan.

Quinoa Diet - How Does it Make You Lose Weight?

The quinoa diet is getting more and more popular not only for vegetarians but for people who wanted to lose weight as well. I'm currently trying to shed off pounds and I was doing my research and I came across with quinoa and I'm really amazed with what I found. It is a staple among Incans and they eat it to regain stamina and strength. Vegetarians love it too because quinoa is packed with high-quality protein that you do not get from soy and beans. It's one of the few foods that can provide "complete" protein.

The quinoa diet is great because unlike any other fad diets we have around, it will not starve you to death and you can be assured that you are getting the right amount of nutrients for every serving. If you want to lose weight, you do not have to necessarily eat the so-called "diet foods" because once you go back to eating regular food, you'll start gaining again. What you need is consistency.

Diet

With the quinoa diet, you can prepare it with pretty much anything you want. You can either make it as the main course or a side dish. When you cook quinoa, it is given that you prepare it with other healthy foods. I'm sure you can't afford to cook quinoa with deep fried chicken or dump cups of mozzarella cheese on it. Quinoa Diet - How Does it Make You Lose Weight?

What I love about quinoa is the way it fills me up. I don't get hungry as often unlike when I was still eating white rice. The seeds take a long time for your system to digest and because of its slow-releasing carbohydrate content, you stay full for a longer period of time.

Did I say carbohydrates? Yes I did! No you don't have to be scared of carbohydrates because what quinoa contains is good carbs. You have more energy but at the same time, your cravings for sugary foods will be less. It reduces the hunger pangs that you always have to struggle with on a very low-calorie diet. I'll say it again, this is the type of diet that will not starve you to death and it will give you energy every single day.

The Ideal Diet for Hypothyroidism

If you have hypothyroidism is very important to know that the type of diet you follow can help you reduce your symptoms, and at the same time help you control your weight. Weight gain goes hand in hand with hypothyroidism and to some people it gets rather difficult to lose weight with this condition.

There are key nutrients and foods that a diet for hypothyroid should include. On the other hand, there are certain foods that should be avoided.

Diet

What Your Diet Should Have

The Ideal Diet for Hypothyroidism

A healthy diet for someone with hypothyroidism would include whole grains, natural foods, plenty of fruits and vegetables and a good supply of seafood and other lean protein. You should cut back on fatty meats. A multivitamin is probably a good idea if you don't already take one.

An Important Mineral

Selenium may be the most important nutrient in a diet for hypothyroid.

Why?

This trace mineral is an antioxidant and is essential for converting the thyroid hormone your body produces, T4, into its active form, T3. Brazil nuts are an incredibly good source of selenium, but you can also get it from some lean meats.

Fiber is Key to Control Your Weight

Another tactic that will be very helpful for you if you're trying to lose weight is eating more fiber. Fiber makes you feel full and can help you lose weight, in addition to being helpful for constipation, another side effect of hypothyroidism.

You can ingest your fiber in pill form or through one of those over-the-counter fiber concoctions, but it is so much better if you get your fiber from actual foods, like beans, rice and other grains, whole wheat and oatmeal.

Strive for whole grains, also known as complex carbohydrates, over refined grains (things made with white flour or sugar). They're better for you, help maintain your blood sugar stable and will make you feel fuller.

Alcohol should also be avoided because it can cause blood sugar fluctuations.

A Diet With More Meals

Ideally, a diet for low thyroid function will include small meals spread out through the day rather than three big meals. If you eat five or six small meals it will help balance the slow metabolism that is part of hypothyroidism. Just remember, keep these meals around 300 calories each, and include exercise if you want to lose weight, too.

Some doctors recommend the Zone diet to those with hypothyroid. The why behind the system is somewhat complicated, but it has to do with balancing out your insulin reaction to food, limiting the spikes and crashes you probably feel right now. Carbs are a big part of this diet, particularly those refined grains we were just talking about.

The diet calls for drinking lots of water (a good idea for anyone), eating more fruit and vegetables and less pasta, bread and starches, and a small amount of lean protein through the day. Most of your carbs should come from fruit and vegetables, with other starches used sparingly. You also should not go more than five hours between meals.

Red Light Foods

As we were saying before, your diet should not include certain foods. Some vegetables, fruits and grains can depress the function of your thyroid gland. To learn about these foods visit diet for hypothyroid.

Four To Die For Dessert Yeast Free Diet Recipes!

For me the greatest struggle on a candida diet has to be not being allowed to have your favorite dessert items. Sometimes living yeast free can get discouraging, mainly when you begin to experience a craving for one of your favorite desserts or sweets. When those moments occur it will be challenging for you to resist. However there are things you can do. By being prepared with the proper ingredients you can work your way through these cravings, especially after having finished the beginning stricter detox phase of the diet.

In this article I'm going to share some yummy yeast free diet recipes allowable under most versions of the diet. These recipes contain Stevia although if you prefer another sugar substitute that is allowed then by all means go ahead and use that instead.

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

#1 Smoothie

Four To Die For Dessert Yeast Free Diet Recipes!

Use a blender to combine three tablespoons of peanut butter (sugar free), a cup of yogurt preferably plain, two tablespoons of whipping cream, then two teaspoons of non-sweetened cocoa powder, a small amount of Stevia and a couple of ice cubes. Next blend the mixture together until it gets smooth and then all that's left is to serve and enjoy. This recipe is good for one serving.

Another variation on this smoothie is to place in the freezer and serve once it's reached a slushier consistency like that of ice cream.

#2 Vanilla Custard Desserts

Combine two cups of milk and ten drops of Stevia extract. Heat up mixture till boiling in a medium saucepan; then allow cooling down period of approximately ten minutes. In a different bowl combine three eggs, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg. Next beat this mixture until smooth. Now begin to slowly beat in the first bowl of ingredients. Pour finished mixture into four serving size cups or into a little casserole dish.

Next using a roasting pan add approximately an inch of water and place the cups or dish (whichever you used) in the pan and begin to bake in 325 degree Fahrenheit oven for between fifty and sixty minutes. Please leave the pan uncovered while baking. After it has finished remove oven and pan, put on rack until cooled then place in the refrigerator to chill until they are ready to be served.

#3 Brownies Delight!

Be Aware! These treats are tasty but not low in fat!

First preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then in a bowl, beat ½ cup of soft butter, two eggs, 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla, and 1/3 cup of grated zucchini. Next add in 1/3 cup of non-wheat flour (such as oat or amaranth), 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa, 1/3 cup of rice flour, and ½ teaspoon of Stevia powder ( you can also use ten drops of Stevia extract). Mix ingredients and then fan out evenly in an eight inch pan. Next bake for anywhere between ten and thirteen minutes. Be sure not to over bake! Don't be alarmed the brownies won't rise and can seem oily as baking. This is due to the butter. Don't worry this will lessen as it begins to cool. All that's left is to serve (excellent when warm).

#4 Berries and Cream

This recipe is nice and simple just as the name implies. All you need to do is spoon three or four tablespoons of cream (preferably heavy whipping) over some fresh fruits or if you prefer frozen fruits. If you want you can also top it off with a light amount of Stevia. Now all that's left to do is serve it in a cup or glass and you're all done. There you have it a simple yet elegant dessert that tastes great and cures those late night cravings.

So as you can see by using the right ingredients and taking some time preparing them you can go a long way into making a no yeast diet much more palatable and easy to stick to in the long run.

Sugar-Free Diet Foods Seem to Cause Adverse Health Problems and Weight Gain

Do you eat sugar-free diet foods in your quest to lose weight? How effective has it been for you? You might be surprised to find out that most people do NOT lose weight with sugar-free diets foods. They may even gain weight. In addition, foods that are sugar-free almost always have artificial sweeteners added, and this is bad news. Manufacturers have gone to great lengths to convince you of the safety of their sugar substitutes, but many studies and many reports by consumers tell another story.

Artificial Sweeteners Cause Increased Intake of Calories

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

Artificial sweeteners found in almost all sugar-free diet foods seem to give you MORE of a sweet tooth, not less, and tend to make people eat more in general, not less! This is especially true of beverages like diet sodas, but also true of other sugar-free items. A study that was released to the American Diabetes Association in 2005 showed that the chance of being overweight actually rises 65% with each diet soda you consume every day! Did you know that?

Sugar-Free Diet Foods Seem to Cause Adverse Health Problems and Weight Gain

Diet Sodas Contain Artificial Sweeteners and More Toxic Ingredients

1 out of every 2 adults drink diet soda today, in spite of its list of ingredients that include artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, saccharin or sucralose, artificial color and preservatives, phosphoric acid and natural flavors, which invariably include MSG. Are you perhaps still a diet soda drinker? Did you know that preservatives such as sodium benzoate are often carcinogenic, phosphoric acid may cause osteoporosis and higher rates of bone fractures in girls, and natural flavors that contain MSG are known neurotoxins?

Artificial Sweeteners May Cause Brain Tumors, Mood Disorders and More

In addition, aspartame (NutraSweet® and Equal®) has been implicated by some scientists and medical professionals in possibly causing serious diseases like brain tumors and lesions. It has also been blamed for all sorts of neurotoxic side effects, such as seizures, headaches, dizziness, mood disorders, anxiety and more. Saccharin and sodium benzoate are carcinogenic. Sucralose, the new artificial sweetener for diet sodas and many other foods, has not been studied extensively on humans, and concerns have been raised about the possible adverse effects of its use on the thymus gland, an organ that helps the immune system function properly. Sucralose has also been accused of causing drug-like feelings of disorientation and confusion, depression and anxiety, diarrhea, fatigue, headaches and more.

Aspartame Stimulates Appetite & May Cause Weight Gain

Many articles and studies have shown that aspartame in diet sodas and other sugar-free diet foods actually stimulates the appetite and causes carbohydrate cravings. The American Cancer Society has documented that people who use artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose actually gain more weight than those who do not use them. So if you are using diet soda or other sugar-free diet foods, you are probably endangering your long-term health, and NOT losing weight anyways! So, stop using sugar-free diet foods today!

Small Amounts of Natural Sugars in Diet Better than Artificial Sweeteners

If you are diabetic, you really want to stay away from all concentrated sugars until you get better (and yes, type II diabetes can actually go away if you do the right things health wise, like getting enough sleep, reducing stress, exercising, eating right and getting enough vitamins and minerals). If you are not diabetic, small amounts of natural sweetenters like evaporated cane juice (found in Rapadura and Succanat), maple syrup and raw honey from bees NOT fed corn syrup are far better for you to include in your diet than artificial sweeteners, in my opinion. If you have a hard time staying away from sugar, you may need to make a bigger diet change. Many people find that when they start eating real foods, make up for vitamin and mineral deficiencies with those foods and sometimes with whole-food supplements, and make sure they get enough natural proteins and fats, including virgin coconut oil, in their diets, that their sugar cravings gradually disappear.

Choosing BPA Free Sealants

Parents looking for BPA Free Sealants for their children are assured by the dental manufacturers that their sealants are "BPA free". It turns out the statement "BPA free sealants" needs to be carefully evaluated. This whole episode reminds me of Sigg, the Swiss aluminum water bottle manufacturers that everyone switched to, to stop buying plastic water bottles, who were forced to admit their plastic lined bottles did in fact contain BPA.

Dental sealants are plastic. They are made from monomers that are derived from BPA, for example bis-GMA and bis-DMA. BPA by itself is rarely used in dental sealants. So when dentists and the dental manufacturers say they have BPA free sealants, they are correct - until they begin to worn down by the saliva and mastication in a chemical reaction that creates BPA.

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

The crucial distinction to make it the type of monomer used. There are two types commonly used in the industry - bis-GMA and bis-DMA. A team at Heidelberg University performed the analysis and published their results in the Clinical Oral Investigations Journal.

Choosing BPA Free Sealants

"For Bis-GMA-monomer, no BPA could be detected under any hydrolytic conditions chosen (detection limit: ≤1%). For Bis-DMA-monomer an increase of BPA was observed at pH 11, resulting in a conversion of approx. 100% Bis-DMA to BPA. When Bis-DMA was subjected to esterase, a conversion of 82.5 % resulted after 24 h; saliva led to an 81.4 % conversion of Bis-DMA after 24 h. Hence, we conclude that the results reported in the literature may be attributed to the Bis-DMA-content of the fissure sealant tested (Delton). No BPA-release is expected under physiologic conditions from fissure sealants based on Bis-GMA if pure base monomers are used.

While the original sealants do not contain BPA, Bis-DMA is hydrolyzed to BPA by the saliva which will result in BPA being released from the sealants as they degrade over time. It seems as if bisGMA based sealants are much more stable over time than Bis-DMA based structures. Make sure you select one of the bisGMA resins.

The Americal Dental Association ADA in it's research on sealants says; " As a product of the degradation of the material in the oral cavity: Composite resins are formulated from a mixture of monomers that are commonly based on bisphenol A glycidyl methacrylate (bis-GMA). Some composite resins may contain other monomers, in addition to bis-GMA, that are added to modify the properties of the resin. An example is bisphenol A dimethacrylate (bis-DMA). Bis-DMA-containing materials can release very small quantities of BPA because bis-DMA is subject to degradation by salivary enzymes."

So it's not to enough to specify "BPA free Sealants," when you want a BPA free sealant. You need to ask for a BPA free sealant that does not release BPA in the mouth over time.  There are plenty of bis-GMA sealants out there. Avoid the ones made from bis-DMA.

At the end of the day, do you want to put plastic in your mouth at all?  The benefits of dental sealants for children are very good. Although you can do wonders with diet to remineralize the teeth and make them strong, it's not always the easiest feeding kids on a soda free, sugar free diet rich in cod liver oil and vegetables. So even with the dangers of plastic in the mouth, it is still worth putting sealants in.

Sugar Withdrawal Symptoms-Don't Let Them Stop You From Kicking Your Sugar Habit

The one thing that stops the more people from committing to a sugar-free diet than any other cause is the fear of sugar withdrawal symptoms. Don't let that stop you - sugar addiction's withdrawal symptoms, compared to many other addictive substances, are quite mild, so giving up an addiction to sugar and other refined carbs is fairly easy. It's staying "clean" afterwards that's hard.

Other drugs, such as tobacco (and even caffeine) have far longer and more disturbing withdrawal symptoms.

\"Sugar Free Diet\"

During the first few sugar-free days you may experience headaches, fatigue, depression, drowsiness, skin eruptions, and mucus or throat discomfort.

Sugar Withdrawal Symptoms-Don't Let Them Stop You From Kicking Your Sugar Habit

Some of these symptoms, especially the mood swings, fatigue and drowsiness, probably occur on a daily basis when you're still eating a high-sugar diet, as the blood sugar rises and falls - but you don't usually blame it on the way you eat. When you kick the sugar habit you will be very aware that these symptoms are being caused by your recent dietary change, and you should look forward to the day when you will be completely free of them.

A caffeine withdrawal headache might be quite painful, and can last for 2 days or more, while sugar withdrawal symptoms are usually milder but may last for a week or two. Some people may experience little or no discomfort at all, and will simply receive all the benefits of a no-sugar diet almost immediately.

And the benefits are huge - better health, better moods, a feeling of increased vitality and clearer thinking.

Unfortunately, the thought of sugar withdrawal symptoms are a powerful deterrent to healthy change. People often think they'll feel much worse than they really will, or they think they'll be miserable much longer. Part of this reasoning is actually caused by the "stinking thinking" created by your addiction.

Knowing how long your symptoms will last will give you the strength to commit yourself to moving through the withdrawal phase towards health. You don't want to give in to the nagging symptoms that are begging you for that donut just a few hours before the symptoms would be gone for good.

For this reason, it's important to mark out the time when you know you won't feel your best. Think of it as a voluntary case of the flu, and commit to working your way through it. In a few days it will be over.

Does that mean you're free of sugar cravings for good? No.

As mentioned earlier, the hard part is not giving up sugar. It's staying free of sugar once you've gone through the first few weeks. Your mild withdrawal symptoms at first will actually keep you focused and remind you of your goal to start a healthy diet.

It's later, when you're feeling healthy and energized, when the lure of "just one" treat can seem like a harmless indulgence. To make sure you stay on your new, healthy diet, you'll need a plan that will prevent you from sliding back into your old, unhealthy eating choices.

Sugar Withdrawal Symptoms-Don't Let Them Stop You From Kicking Your Sugar Habit

Jonni is the author of "Weight Loss: How to Keep Your Commitment," a book that will help you through all the phases of sugar withdrawal and keep you focused on your goal of a healthier life.
